Premiere Classe launches the first ever spa on a train

Premiere Classe - a subsidiary of Shosholoza Meyl, the long distance passenger rail service, has announced the launch of its onboard spa.

Speaking to the guests at the event Chief Executive Officer of Shosholoza Meyl, Viwe Mlenzana said they are very excited about this development and partnership with Amani Spa as it brings a whole new dimension to train travel in Africa.

"Train travel is an unforgettable and romantic experience that is safe, comfortable and relaxed. Unlike any other form of travel, it is an experience within itself. Fine dining, luxurious comfort and now the ability to relax and indulge in a spa experience while rolling across the beautiful South African landscape, is what one can experience when travelling on Premiere Classe," he said.

According to Amani Africa Spa Group Managing Director, Ronleigh Gordon modifications were made to three cabins in order to facilitate a fully operational spa. "Guest can enjoy a range of indulgent treatments to further compliment their experience," she said.

Premier Classe offers guests all the modern amenities in its dining/lounge cars that include air-conditioning, plasma screens and DVD players. The conference coach is equipped with a flip-down presentation screen and various conferencing services. The Premier Classe boasts more spacious compartments and lavishly appointed bathrooms.

Guests can enjoy the spa service on the Johannesburg to Cape Town route which runs twice a week.

Johannesburg to Cape Town (return)

The Premier Classe departs from Johannesburg to Cape Town every Thursday and Sunday, returning from Cape Town to Johannesburg every Tuesday and Saturday.
The duration of the trip between Johannesburg and Cape Town is approximately 25 hours, stopping at some of South Africa’s prime tourist destinations. Please note that the stop-overs do not allow for excursions off the train.

Tuesday / Saturday’s Schedule from Cape Town to Johannesburg

Johannesburg to Durban (return)

The Premier Classe departs from Johannesburg to Durban every Friday and Tuesday, returning from Durban to Johannesburg every Sunday and Wednesday.
The overnight trip between Johannesburg and Durban takes approximately 14 hours, departing Johannesburg and Durban in the evening and arriving the following morning refreshed at your end destination. Please note that the intermediate stops are for operational purposes only and do not allow for excursions off the train.
